More about this year's Festival

We are pleased to announce that the Front Royal Town Council has reserved Main Street for the Celtic Festival! Main Street will close from Royal Ave. to Blue Ridge Ave. (right past the Visitors Center), and on Chester St. to the south side of Laura Virginia Hale St. (right past the Gazebo park).

Two stages. Laurie stage at the Gazebo, O'Kielty stage in front of the old Royal Oakes Computer.

Bagpipes on Main St. with at least three Pipe and Drum bands, who will be based down by the Courthose lawn.

Irish and Scottish dancing — last year we had five different groups of Irish dancers and one Scottish — we hope for more this year! Confirmed so far are the O'Kielty Irish dancers, Boyle's School of Irish Dance and two Scottish dance groups.

The Woodhouse band is confirmed. One of the daughters in this family band, Veronica, won third place in the "US National Scottish Fiddling Competition, Junior Division" in 2008.

Autoharp picking and hammered dulcimer!

Madeline MacNeil is confirmed as a performer. She plays the Hammered Dulcimer and the Mountain Dulcimer. She is a very gifted musician and vocalist whose family roots go back to the Cape Breton Scottish area of Canada.

Brian Turner will lead a workshop in singing Scottish Gaelic.

Warren Heritage Society is involved. A docent will cook traditional foods for display.

We expect many clan tents! Dick Badger of the Moffat Clan is coordinating this effort. We have ten clan tents and societies confirmed so far. Contact Dick directly for more information at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Honored guests, with a parade and calling of the clans to honor them.

Southern States will loan us temporary fencing so we can have a Falconry exhibit and Highland cattle.
